Key facts

  • Serving size is 1 capsule. Servings per container: 30.
  • Declared ingredients: inulin 211 mg, resistant starch 100 mg, probiotic blend 36 mg. Total 347 mg.
  • No Daily Value is established for any of the three, so the panel shows a dagger and no percent.
  • Other ingredients: hypromellose (vegetarian capsule), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, silica.
  • The label does not say what the three organisms were grown on, so we cannot say if dairy was used.
  • Not published: CFU count, strain designations, amount of each organism, and whether the Akkermansia is live or pasteurized.

What does the Sodatide Supplement Facts panel say?

The panel is built correctly. It states a serving size of one capsule and 30 servings per container. It lists the three dietary ingredients with their Latin names where relevant. Every structural element that 21 CFR 101.36 asks for is present, and that is why the panel scored well in our review for completeness.

What is chicory root inulin?

Inulin is a fibre found in chicory root. The label calls it Chicory Root Inulin and gives the plant name, Cichorium intybus. Most fibres of this kind are not digested in the small gut. They travel on to the colon, where resident bacteria can break them down.

At 211 mg a capsule, the amount is small. One trial named in our sources used 8,000 mg a day. That is about 38 times the printed amount. So whatever that trial found cannot be carried over to this capsule.

What is potato resistant starch?

Resistant starch is starch that resists digestion. The label draws it from potato tuber and prints it at 100 mg. A 12-week trial of 68 adults gave 45 g a day, which is 450 times more, and concluded it did not increase satiety or reduce appetite and food intake.

The square brackets around Resistant Starch on the label are simply how the maker named the ingredient. They carry no extra meaning for the buyer.

What is in the 36 mg probiotic blend?

Three organisms are named. All are listed by genus and species only.

  • Bifidobacterium infantis. No strain designation and no CFU.
  • Clostridium butyricum. No strain designation and no CFU.
  • Akkermansia muciniphila. No strain designation, no CFU, and no word on whether it is live or pasteurized.

The three together weigh 36 mg. The label keeps the split secret, which the rules allow for a blend. A weight in milligrams cannot be turned into a count of living cells without a potency figure, and none is published. ISAPP says responsible makers list genus, species and strain, plus the potency to expect through the end of shelf life. Sodatide lists the first two only.

What are the other ingredients?

Four are named: hypromellose (the vegetarian capsule shell), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and silica. All four are ordinary and all four are disclosed in the right place. A 100% Natural Ingredients mark on the listing sits over that line, and the word natural has no set regulatory meaning for a supplement. We just note the two together.

The label also does not say what the probiotic organisms were grown on. Dairy-derived media are common in that trade, so a reader with a dairy allergy should ask the order desk before buying. A Dairy free mark appears on the listing, but no certificate stands behind it.

What is not on the label?

  • A CFU count for the probiotic blend.
  • Strain names for any of the three organisms.
  • The amount of each organism inside the 36 mg blend.
  • Whether the Akkermansia is live or pasteurized.
  • A laboratory name or report behind certificate reference SOD-5904-26-SO.
  • An expiry date.

We have not guessed at any of these. If you need one of them, for an allergy or because a doctor asks, contact the order desk on +1 (302) 200-3480 with your question.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Sodatide ingredients?

Chicory root inulin 211 mg, potato resistant starch 100 mg and a probiotic blend of 36 mg containing Bifidobacterium infantis, Clostridium butyricum and Akkermansia muciniphila. Other ingredients are hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and silica.

How much is in one capsule?

The declared total is 347 mg per capsule: 211 mg inulin, 100 mg resistant starch and 36 mg of probiotic blend.

Is there a CFU count?

No. The label prints a weight for the probiotic blend and no count of living cells. We do not state or estimate one.

Which probiotic strains are used?

The label names genus and species only. No strain designations are printed, so no strain-specific study can be attached to this product.

Is the capsule vegetarian?

The shell is hypromellose, a plant material, so the vegetarian badge is supported by the panel. What the probiotics were grown on is not stated.

Does it contain dairy?

No dairy ingredient is listed. The label does not say what the organisms were grown on, so ask the order desk if you have an allergy.

Our view

As a panel, Sodatide is tidy. As a formula, it is thin on disclosure and light on dose. Two fibres at hundreds of milligrams and three organisms at an unknown count make a small, quiet capsule.

That can suit someone who wants a gentle daily habit and accepts the gaps. It does not suit someone who needs proof of a probiotic count or a study-sized dose. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to read the panel if you take medicine or have a condition.
